growing up between two languages and cultures (sometimes three), image culture — photography, television, movies, music, and more — became my auxiliary education, a lens through which i perceived the world, filling in nuances often lost in translation. the works that follow trace a lifelong study of image culture and my shift from spectator to author — forging narratives of authenticity and worlds not yet imagined.

“Home” by Kamiko x AnnaMacan

“Home” was composed and written by Kamiko and Anna, a tribute to AAPI Perspectives Oral History Project as it weaves in themes of family and community healing. It speaks to the legacies of war, Executive Order 9066 and the Aliens Enemy Act. It was recorded and filmed live in the Japanese American Museum of San José.

a social enterprise that creates and curates headwear and apparel inspired by Southeast Asian essence. a portion of Fancy Headz quarterly sales benefit health programs. current partners are the Carina Mae Owens Scholarship Fund and Restore Children & Families in Cebu City, Philippines.
